The RMWB is starting to ignite controlled burns for debris removal along the Birchwood Trails.
It’s part of their FireSmart project that launched back in October.
The goal is to remove all debris, dead trees and thinning and pruning of standing trees to reduce the fuels that could cause a wildfire.
The municipality says signage will be posted in work site areas about the potential of smoke, so you will know there’s no fire or safety concerns to report.
The RMWB is also ensuring these controlled burns will be monitored continuously to minimize smoke during this process.
