WBRC looking for new member after resignation

The Wood Buffalo Recovery Committee is holding another application process for a position with the committee.

Committee Member, Mark Hodson has handed in his resignation due to work commitments which will see him move to the Netherlands.

The committee now consists of three Councillors, Sheldon Germain, Allan Vinni and Keith McGrath, and currently five members of the public, Jeanette Bancarz, Maggie Farrington, Marty Giles, Kim Jenkins and Kevin Fleury.

Work has been in full force since August, meeting every week, by-weekly for the last month, and discussing the recovery and now rebuild of the community. It was created to allow Mayor and Council to focus on all aspects of the region and not just the recovery.

As part of the committee, consultations will be done with various stakeholders throughout the region “in order to decide upon and execute measures to ensure that the Municipality and its residents will be well established on a path to recovery from the devastation caused by the Wildfire in the shortest time practicable having regard to the magnitude of the task.”

Applications are available at rmwb.ca/boards and must be completed by December 7, at 4:30 p.m.
