Wildrose Party Leader Weighs In On Pipeline Approvals

Fort McMurray, AB, Canada / MIX 103.7

The leader of the Wildrose Party feels the approval of two Alberta pipelines is long overdue.

Brian Jean says moving forward with Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain pipeline expansion and Line 3 is nothing but good news for Alberta and Fort McMurray.

But Jean tells Mix News he’s concerned that the two top oilsands advisors appointed by the NDP continue to oppose pipelines.

“In particular we have them trying to be obstacles in Kinder Morgan being built and they have suggested that they will do whatever possible as far as litigation and otherwise to stop these projects from going through and actually getting shovels in the ground.”

Meanwhile, Jean says he’s extremely disappointed that the Liberal government rejected the Northern Gateway pipeline.

“Because this project would have meant $300 billion in GDP growth for our economy of over the next 30 years and thousands and thousands of badly needed new jobs, that would actually benefit all of Alberta and BC.

Trudeau rejected the pipeline citing potential hazards to the Great Bear Rain Forest in Northern BC. However, Jean feels it was a political move and the project should have gone forward since it was approved the National Energy Board.
