Two Fort McMurray sisters are creating a new way to spread some Christmas cheer.

Nicole MacMaster and her sister Meghan started a post on Facebook to kick off their email campaign called “The Beast Who Stole Christmas.”

MacMaster tells Mix News that the campaign is a way to match up residents who wish to help families affected by the springs wildfire over a mostly anonymous email. Nicole says they only need a name and a number to keep in contact.

“People who are in need, their pride seems to get in the way. They don’t want to reach out to the organizations who are in town, they say someone else could use more than I need it, so we tried to eliminate that part of it by having it by email.”

The campaign is already under way with the deadline to email on December 4th, and the gift deadline on December 15th,

“There’s a lot of ways you can help, it doesn’t mean you need to buy Christmas gifts for a family of six, You can just do some Christmas baking or do something that’s a nice gesture.”

Any residents who wish to sign up can use the email spreadcheerfortmac@outlook.com with the subject line “In need of cheer” if you’d like to receive cheer or “Willing to help spread cheer” if you want to give cheer.
