Fort McMurray Selected To Host 2018 Baseball Canada 18U Championships

Fort McMurray has been chosen to host another national event.

This time it’s the 2018 Baseball Canada under 18 Championships. It will run from August 16-20th at Shell Place and Ross Hennigar Ball Park in Thickwood.

In a release, Organizing Committee Co-Chair Jodie Cooper says the 2016 Baseball Canada Cup held here in August was a key contributing factor to the success of this bid to host another national event.

“From volunteers and community members to corporate and business partners, the 2016 Baseball Canada Cup truly showed the strength of our region and our commitment to hosting national caliber sporting events in Fort McMurray.”

Baseball Canada President Jason Dickson says Baseball Canada is excited to bring their 18U National Championship to Fort McMurray in 2018.

“We were ecstatic with the job that the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo and Fort McMurray Minor Baseball did hosting the Baseball Canada Cup last summer and know they’ll put on another first-class event in 2018.”

More detailed information on the tournament is expected to be released in the coming months.
