PICS/VIDEO: Christmas Decoration Distribution Centre Opens Wednesday

Fort McMurray, AB, Canada / MIX 103.7

Christmas has come early to Wood Buffalo residents.

A truck full of decorations pulled into Fort McMurray Tuesday afternoon.

The “Christmas Ornaments for Fort McMurray” initiative was started by Terry and Helga Lempriere of High River.

The couple lost a lot of their items during the floods of 2013 and knew they had to help out after seeing what happened here in spring.

Terry tells Mix News they had 21 donation drop-off spots set up across Alberta for the past few weeks.

“This trailer that we’re bringing up today (Tuesday) has been parked in Calgary. But, we’ve had places in Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, High River, Edmonton and Grand Prairie.”

A temporary distribution site will be set up at Shell Place at MacDonald Island Park starting Wednesday until Friday.

Since donation quantities are limited, people picking up Christmas decor will have to complete a short intake form to ensure donations are received by those who need them most.
