A Fort McMurray firefighter will appear on a special edition of the TV show Chopped Canada.
Scott Germain found out just after the wildfire that he was selected to be a part of the firefighter edition.
“Firefighters who like to cook at the fire hall and at home, it’s just based off of them. I got the email so I applied and I found out right after the wildfire that I was selected to be on there.”
In the show, the four competitors have to make a meal with the mystery ingredients. There’s four rounds, with someone being eliminated after each round.
Germain says being a part of the filming was challenging, as it took place about three weeks after he and his wife lost their home in the wildfire.
“So things are pretty stressful. The cameras on you, it’s a full day of filming, we were on set for quite a while. There’s just so many interviews, the pressure and just being in that kitchen, the literal heat of all the boiling water and the ovens turned on, I was sweating almost the entire time I think.”
But he adds the whole experience, meeting the other firefighters and having a chance to represent the fire department and Fort McMurray was incredible.
You can see how Germain did when the episode airs on the Food Network on December 10th.
