The Canadian Mental Health Association is recognizing the Wood Buffalo Chapter for their work during the wildfire.

During the CMHA Alberta division’s AGM in Edmonton earlier this week, the Wood Buffalo group was presented with the President’s Award.

The award is for their outstanding contribution and exemplary service during evacuation and re-entry, ensuring residents in our region had the mental health support and services they need.

In a release, Executive Director Jane Barter says it’s a true honor they were recognized for their services and programs they provide to citizens.

She adds mental health in our region appears to be better understood and accepted, but they will continue to work towards a mentally healthy society.
