Program aimed at helping youth re-opens after explosion

Stepping Stones Youth Services – Wood’s Homes is finally re-opening after an explosion during the early days of the city’s evacuation.

The home in Dickinsfield sustained damage as a result of the explosion of a neighboring home in May.

“It was quite a serious explosion actually that happened on Clennell Cres behind us and we sustained some damage so it required quite a bit of time actually to get the repairs done and restoration done so we could open our doors,” said Lynn Rhoddy, Program supervisor at Stepping Stones.

She adds that repairs have only been recently completed but their doors are open to any and all youth who need their services.

“We’ve had some of our former youth drop in and say hello, but right now we don’t have any of our youth in the program but our doors are open 24/7, if youth need a safe place to return to.”

The facility offers a safe place for youth aged 12 to 17 who are working through a difficult time with their families.

Their mobile outreach service is also available now for youth aged 12 to 21.
