New garbage bin and staff arrive in Ross Haven to help with flooding

The municipality saw 85 mm of rain in a two hour stretch Sunday July 31st // Cliff Hemeon via Facebook

A large garbage bin has been placed in Ross Haven at the intersection of Thicket Dr. and Robin Cres.

Residents are being encouraged to use the garbage bin just for water soaked items from the recent flooding around the area. The bin will only be around for one week.

Ground support staff from the municipality will be heading down to the area to meet with homeowners who have experienced sanitary sewer flooding.

They will be handing out a pamphlet to these owners highlighting what the best course of action will be for their flooding. The pamphlet include:

  • Information from Alberta Health Sciences
  • What to do next when suffering from sanitary sewer flooding
  • List of possible next steps/ contacting insurance provider
  • Contact information for Alberta Health Services and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo

Anyone who is experiencing any flooding of any kind should contact the Pulse line at 780-743-7000 with emergencies still being directed to 911.

REOC and Underground Services will review each situation to see who the best asset would be to help.
