REOC activated due to flooding

Downtown experiencing heavy downpour // Jaryn Vecchio - Harvard Broadcasting

REOC has been activated in response to the rainfall warning.
Ground support staff from Underground Services and the Public Operations are currently evaluating conditions in the Urban Service Area.
The municipality is advising residents to restrict travel around town.

Many eye witness accounts have reported seeing major flooding near the McDonalds in Gregoire and lightning strikes in the downtown area.

Power was out in Thickwood and in some areas of Downtown causing around 4,000 residents to have no power. ATCO Electric has said that power should be back for most of the properties affected.

Traffic stops have also been reported out with the municipality reminding motorists that the intersection will now be a 4 way stop until the lights come back on.

There have also been some posts on Facebook from residents about basements being flooded.

Anyone who is experiencing any flooding is asked to call the pulse line at 780-743-7000.
