Hundreds of planters and hanging baskets are on their way to Fort McMurray.

United Way spokesperson Russell Thomas says members of the Alberta Greenhouse Growers Association help communities to brighten up with colours when natural disasters have caused grief.

“This donation of flowers from growers from all over western Canada is amazing. And this is something this greenhouse growers association does after every natural disaster that we’ve had, at least in recent history here in Alberta,” says Thomas.

Thomas says the flowers are on their way to Fort McMurray and will be available to pick up Friday afternoon between one and three.

“This is not only for residents but this is for business owners as well to brighten up your business locations. It should have a real positive impact on the community. It’s going to be first come first serve . We can’t wait to welcome everybody to Wajax up in Gregoire,” says Thomas.

Wajax can be found at 255 MacAlpine Crescent.
