This 2018 Alberta Winter games could be the hot topic as the Host Society is trying to push council to get the event to move forward.
They will be looking to hear from the community and stakeholders to help make a decision.
On June 8th, Administration contacted Alberta Sport Connection to tell them that the Alberta Winter Games Host Society and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo needed 60 days to access the damage the wildfire had caused to the recreational facilities and most important the community.
Between June 21 and July 6 talks with the community and stakeholders has the host society determined to move forward with the plans.
The Municipality has already committed just over $3.3 million from the Emerging Issues Reserve to host the 2018 the Games.
This will not be the only talking point council as administration is looking for cash flow approval from the capital budget for Revised, New and Cancelled projects.
An update will also be given on the first quarter of the Capital Budget Fiscal Amendment, which ended on March 31st.
