Boil Water Advisory lifted for communities south of Fort McMurray

AHS advises water users to run taps for 5 min each on cold and hot to flush any remaining bacteria// Chris Vandenbreekel - Harvard Broadcasting

Alberta Health Services have lifted the boil water advisory for communities south of Fort McMurray.

This includes: Anzac, the Anzac Truckfill, Gregoire Lake Estates and Fort McMurray No. 468 First Nation.

The advisory still remains up in Abasand, Beacon Hill and Waterways. Water here is safe for general use, but should be brought to a full boil for one minute before cooking, drinking, or washing any food.

Residents are advised to run their taps for five minutes each on hot and cold to flush any lingering bacteria. Appliances should also have water lines flushed. Instructions on how to do so can be found here.

Late in June the health services had cleared: Gregoire, Saline Creek, Saline Plateau, Saprae Creek Estates, Mackenzie Park, Airport Lands, and Prairie Creek Residential.

The municipality is still encouraging everyone that uses water tanks to drain, clean and disinfect before they are used. Cisterns that haven’t been used for long period of time should be cleaned and become a common practice.
