He had resigned his job as MP for Calgary Midnapore before the last federal election.

Making the announcement in front of a packed ballroom in Calgary.

Many have been speculating that Kenney has plans to try and unite both the PC and Wildrose parties.

The leader of the Wildrose Party and official opposition, Brian Jean is also the MPP of Fort McMurray-Athabasca as well as a resident.

Kenney addressed the rumors by saying that both parties need to unite before the next election to stop Rachely Notley’s NDP’s from gaining a second term.

Kenney has a history with parties merging.

Back in 2003 he was part of the Canadian Alliance and Progressive Conservatives merger to create the Conservative Party of Canada.
