Canada Post Workers are getting closer to going on strike.
Canada Post and the union representing the workers have been in contract talks since December, 2015.
The deadline to reach an agreement was last night at midnight.
Fort McMurray has already been seeing many delays due to the fire and now with a strike looming could mean longer waits for McMurrayites to receive their mail.
Since re-entry in early June, mail in the city has been in a big backlog.
Residents who lost their mailboxes have been lining up at the Post office on Hardin Street trying to get months worth of mail.
If a strike does come this would be the fifth such nationwide strike in the last three decades. Last being in 2011, where an agreement wasn’t reached for three weeks.
1987, 1991 and 1997 include the three other strikes.
If a strike does happen the earliest it can begin would be Wednesday, as workers have been given a 72 hour notice.
