Fort Chipewyan RCMP is asking for the public’s help for information about a couple of firearms stolen from a vehicle last month.

Wood Buffalo RCMP Corporal George Cameron says the firearms are believed to be a Mossberg .410 gauge shotgun and an older single shot, possibly a “Cooey” .22 calibre rifle.

“Members up in Fort Chip are just hoping that is anyone sees or reads this release that they may feel comfortable to come forward with any information and find out who the perpetrator is,” says Cameron.

Cameron says the firearms were stolen May 31 from a parked vehicle at a residence in Fort Chipewyan.

The suspect or suspects used tools located in the victim’s shed to cut the barrel off one firearm and the stocks off both.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Chipewyan RCMP at 780-697-3931 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
