Monarchs return to YMM for June 18 game, free admission for residents

The Fort McMurray Monarchs are coming back home.

The Regional Recreation Corporation announced yesterday the men’s football team would be playing June 18th at seven against the Grande Prairie Drillers at the SMS Equipment Stadium at Shell Place.

Admission to the game is free for Wood Buffalo residents thanks to the Government of Alberta and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

During the evacuation the Monarchs opened their season at Fuhr Sports Park in Spruce Grove posting an impressive 66-0 win over the Calgary Wolfpack on May 28.

Their second match a few days ago saw them lose to the Central Alberta Buccaneers 43-42.

Tickets for the game are available beginning June 13 at the Shell Place Box Office. Game attendees must present a ticket for admission.
