Commercial air service to Fort McMurray could resume as soon as June 10th.
That’s according to CEO and President of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority Scott Clements.
Clements says YMM is the gateway to the community and he’s looking forward to re-opening.
Clements adds the Authority is working closely with the Regional Emergency Operations Centre, and return to commercial air service is contingent on several factors, including the airspace requirements of the Department of Agriculture and Forestry to continue to battle the wildfire.
Any delays for the voluntary re-entry to Fort McMurray date will also delay the return of commercial air service to YMM.
Clements added the Authority is indebted to the men and women who worked tirelessly around the clock to protect the airport infrastructure which has allowed us to support the efforts of emergency first responders since the fire began.
