Alberta Wildfire update May 12

Map supplied by Alberta Wildfire

The latest report from Alberta Wildfire last night says yesterday’s warm temperatures and increase in winds in the afternoon didn’t help firefighters.
The wildfire did experience some growth to the west but airtankers and helicopters with buckets worked on it.
Firefighters continue to be successful in holding the wildfire from Timberlea, Thickwood, Anzac, Gregoire Lake Estates, and various critical infrastructure.
Crews continue to work in the forested areas surrounding the community putting out numerous smoldering ground fires.
Dozers continue to build guard around the north at Parsons Creek North, Timberlea, Thickwood, west of Hihway 63 near Anzac and along the southern end of the wildfire. A dozer guide has been completed in the Gregoire Lakes Estate area.
The wildfire remains classified as out of control and is estimated to be 241,457 hectares in size. The far east side of the wildfire is approximately 13 kilometres from the Saskatchewan border.
