UPDATE (7:15 p.m.)

The RMWB is reporting that the CanWest Propane at McAlpine and Highway 63 is on fire. There are also two structure fires on Blackburn Drive. No further details are available on the fires.

Fort McMurray SPCA has confirmed that all animals were safely evacuated from the area.

While Gregoire residential areas remain untouched by the fire in Fort McMurray, the fire is headed towards the airport and Saprae Creek and residents there have been urged to leave and go to the Firehall 5.

That’s the latest information from the RMWB’s fire update at 5:40 this afternoon.

Fires in Birchwood Trails have been extinguished and there are no fires in Thickwood.

The city says there are 15 structure fires on Walnut Crescent in Timberlea.

Earlier in the afternoon the fire caused the closure of the intersection of Highway 63 and 69.
