Bingo is proving successful for the Golden Years Society.
The organization was the recipient of proceeds from the Legion’s first month of community bingo to the tune of $3,949.51.
The Legion began the bingos in an effort to draw more people to its facility and to help the community.
Spokesperson Bill Rockwell says he thinks interest in attending the bingo is growing.
“Well, we’ve been at it now for about five weeks and we’re going to present our first cheque to our first charity. There’s going to be a new one every month that receives a portion of the sales,” says Rockwell.
Rockwell says any organizations looking to benefit from the bingos should contact the Legion.
“The next one is going to be the Ride for Dad, for prostate cancer, is going to be our next charity and if there’s any community group who wants to put in a request with us we’re more than happy to entertain them, just contact us at our office and let us know who you are,” says Rockwell.
