Downtown shooting victim, 24, dead

The 24-year-old victim of a shooting near Fort McMurray’s Boomtown Casino earlier this month has died in an Edmonton hospital.

Ahmed Khalif Mahamoud was shot in the early morning hours of April 1 in the vicinity of the downtown casino, with eyewitnesses reportingĀ seeing a male suspect running from the scene after the shooting.

After being treated by local emergency medical staff, Mahamoud was transported to Edmonton where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, April 20th.

Wood Buffalo RCMP, along with Edmonton’s Major Crimes Unit, are now investigating the case as a homicide.
