A 24-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries after a shooting outside of the Boomtown Casino early Friday morning.
Wood Buffalo RCMP say they responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 12:40 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from serious injuries. He was treated on-scene by EMS before being transported to Northern Lights Regional Health Centre for treatment.
Police say witnesses saw the suspect flee the scene on-foot down Hardin St. towards Franklin Ave.
RCMP add that this was not a “random incident” and there is no danger to public safety.
Boomtown Casino GM Kari-Lyn Bolen told Mix News that the casino is open for business, and that the attacker was never on the casino’s property.
