Workshop aims to help those with secondary trauma

If you’re interested in enhancing your life and being well an upcoming workshop may be just the thing for you.

Sacred Women International founder Aina-Nia Ayo’dele is offering a two day workshop for those front line workers who care for others at work or at home.

On Fort McMurray Matters today Ayo’dele explains the workshops helps support those with secondary trauma – those who care for those who are traumatized.

“Our focus is mostly on women so most of our work is gender specific but when we do organizational work we certainly invite men in and have them experience what it means to be in the feminine energy,” says Ayo’dele.

Participants can learn some basic techniques and tools to support themselves as they support others.

Ayo’dele says the training is perfect to support front-line staff, coordinators and managers who are caring for the communities of the Wood Buffalo Region.

“It’s about helping women to understand how powerful we are in our role on this planet at this time and our role in communites, especially indigineous communities,” says Ayo’dele.

Participants can learn some basic techniques and tools to support themselves as they support others.

The workshops are this week at the Nistawayou Friendship Centre and a link for details is here
