McMurrayites are going to be treated this weekend to the best hockey played by 11- to 13-year-olds that Alberta has to offer this weekend.
The PeeWee AA Provincial Championships are in town, taking place at Frank Lacroix Minor Hockey Arena from Thursday to Saturday. The five best teams from across Alberta will be facing off for the provincial title.
Among those teams will be the PeeWee AA Junior Oil Barons.
“We would love for people to come out and cheer us on, make lots of noise for our boys,” said Tournament Chair Cora Therrien.
The games get started at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning, but the opening ceremonies for the championship don’t get started until 4:30 p.m.
Former NHLer and two-time Stanley Cup Champion Mark Hartigan will speak at the ceremonies, before the JOB begin their hunt for the championship at 6 p.m.
