A national organization is hoping to get residents of Wood Buffalo on board to help connect the country.
The Trans Canada Trail is 80 per cent complete and has designated the Athabasca River as the connector of Wood Buffalo to the rest of the trail system.
The Sustainable Development Committee will recommend Council direct Administration to work with the Trans Canada Trail Foundation to link the Trans Canada Trail to the trail system in the Municipality.
They will also recommend including the estimated $500,000 cost to complete the linkage in the five-year capital plan for consideration by Council.
Lastly, the committee will recommend that the Mayor be added to the list of other Mayors throughout Alberta and Canada who are declared “Champions” of the Trans Canada Trail.
