Industry threatening Canada's parks: Report

The Harper Government is failing to protect Canada's parks from industrial and commercial development.

That according to the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society's annual report, which warns that inappropriate development is encroaching on critical wilderness habitat.

Including the approval of a massive new glass and concrete viewing platform planned for Jasper National Park and new deep water oil and gas exploration off the coast of Newfoundland's Gros Morne.

The Society also says the decision to lay off scientists, and recent budget cuts are putting increased pressure on already fragile ecosystems.
