If you’re running in this year’s Fort McMurray marathon, you can now practice the route.
The Regional Recreation Corporation released the maps for the full and half marathon, along with the 10, 5, and 3-kilometer distances.
Similar to last year, participants will start and finish at MacDonald Island Park.
In between, runners will travel through the Thickwood trail system and into residential areas of Wood Buffalo, crossing through Thickwood Boulevard and into the Birchwood Trails.
“Building on last year’s route, the extended course has been designed to create an enhanced participant and spectator experience, as well as showcase much of Fort McMurray’s natural beauty. We look forward to ensuring a great race day for all,” says Kelsey Stefanizyn, Fort McMurray Marathon Organizing Committee Event Chair and Sales and Events Senior Manager of the RRC.
Participants can also check out the interactive route map on the Fort McMurray Marathon’s website which provides elevation, aid stations, and amenities located along each course distance.
The event takes place September 16.
