Five people are facing multiple charges after trying to steal from or take ‘bait vehicles.’
Since March 28, Wood Buffalo RCMP have set these vehicles in various locations across the region in an attempt to catch thieves redhanded.
As a result, a 33-year-old man from Fort McKay is being charged with theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of obstruction, and failing to comply with police. A 37-year-old Fort McMurray man is also being charged with theft of a vehicle, impaired use, using the vehicle while prohibited, and driving without a license.
A 26-year-old woman from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possession of drugs, and four counts of failing to comply with police.
While, two women from Gregoire Lake Reserve, aged 30 and 35, are facing a combined five charges of failing to comply with police.
The names of these individuals aren’t being released as they’ve already started their court proceedings.
