Horton CBI Limited is facing charges under the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act following the death of one of its workers.
The incident occurred back on March 21, 2016, in Fort McMurray, when Jamie Lee Paris was welding on a large bitumen storage tank when he fell about 60 feet from the board and bracket scaffold to the ground.
Last month, nearly two years after the incident, OHS charged the construction company with 10 counts, including failure to ensure the health and safety of a worker engaged in the work of that employer.
Paris, who was originally from New Brunswick, was 29-years-old.
Horton CBI Ltd. is set to appear in a Fort McMurray courtroom on May 9.
