More opioids are being taken off our streets after a drug bust in the lower townsite.
On March 21, ALERT’s Fort McMurray organized crime and gang team along with Wood Buffalo RCMP arrested two suspects after seizing a total of 18.4 grams of powdered fentanyl.
It’s being alleged that the opioid was being sold as heroin due to the way it was packaged and being sold.
ALERT says the investigation started back in December 2017 after receiving some information about potential fentanyl trafficking.
“The drug game is inherently dangerous and the risk to community safety is compounded when fentanyl and firearms are involved,” said Sgt. Brad Lundeen of ALERT Fort McMurray, in a release.
As a result, 26-year old Kyla Boulin, from Fort McMurray, was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. 31-year-old Lindsay Boyd, from Edmonton, was also arrested and charged with multiple drug and firearm offenses.
An arrest warrant has also been issued for 36-year-old Edmonton native Bobby Jo Gladue for fentanyl trafficking.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is being asked to call the Fort McMurray gang tip line at 780-788-GANG (4264) or Crime Stoppers.
