The Lions of Alberta Foundation is looking to help organizations affected by the 2016 wildfire.
The group offers bursaries, scholarships, and financial assistance for communities who’ve suffered through a disaster.
They’ve recently donated $80,000 to both the Fort McMurray Catholic School District and Fort McMurray Public School District. The money will be used to replace Chrome Books and Robots damaged by the heat and smoke of the fire.
“Lions everywhere watched the events of the wildfire unfold,” said Fred Walters, President of the Lions of Alberta Foundation, in a release.
“The donations were to help local organizations with their recovery and resiliency efforts and to rebuild and replace items lost or damaged in the fire.”
He notes donations came from different members across Canada and as far as Maine, U.S.
The LOAF is now accepting applications for their second wave of funding. Organizations, who were directly affected by the fire, have until April 1st, 2018, to apply.
