Getting a parking ticket may not be so bad after all.
Starting on Friday, people who receive a fine can now pay through the 2nd annual “Toys for Tickets program.”
Drivers can bring toys, of equal value to the ticket, to the South Operations Centre along Saprae Creek Trail.
Last year, 14 people took part in the program – raising around $1,900 worth of toys. One individual even donated an additional $200 raised through a bake sale.
The program is running until December 15th, with the toys being handed to the Salvation Army, who will then hand them out to families in need through their ‘Adopt-A-Family’ program.
Only timed parking and Winter Maintenance Zone tickets can be paid by toys.
