Keyano College is getting over $285,000 from its annual Gala over the weekend.
On Saturday, over 1,100 guests packed the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre for a night of food, entertainment, and a chance to help raise funds for the school.
The money raised was around $25,000 more than their goal, with the funds being used to help support their students through programming, athletics, theatre, as well as infrastructure improvements at the College.
“This support represents an important investment in the future of our college and in our community, and it is an important reminder of how generous our community is,” said Tracy Edwards, President and CEO of Keyano College, in a release.
Throughout the event, guests were given the chance to bid on donated auction items. This included aerial tours, different artwork, guitars, and signed sports memorabilia.
Those in attendance also got a chance to hear the Barenaked Ladies live as they performed songs from their new album and some of their classics.
“We are very proud of the efforts we are making to be a valued member of the community, a place of academic high standards, and the college of choice for Northern Alberta,” added Edwards.
