The Centron Group has started construction on the long-awaited movie theatre and retail centre in Eagle Ridge.
Phase 1 of The Commons at Eagle Ridge includes construction of a Landmark Cinema, restaurants, shops and services.
In 2006, Centron won a bid to purchase land from the government to create a master planned community located in the Timberlea area, providing housing option types and affordability for new and existing residents of Fort McMurray.
That plot of land became Eagle Ridge.
Centron says the 37, 000 square foot cinema will have 8 wall-to-wall screens over 25-foot tall and include over 900 premium powered recliner seats. All seating will be available on a complimentary reserved seating basis and tickets will be available in advance.
The future of Landmark Cinemas 6 will be determined following the opening of the Eagle Ridge cinema.
While Centron can’t speak to the specifics of other prospective retailers, they anticipate that The Commons at Eagle Ridge will be an entertainment hub complete with various different quick service and sit down restaurants, retail shopping, fitness, financing and other services, in addition to the Landmark Cinemas 8 screen complex.
The project was first announced in April of 2016.
With the development now underway – Centron projects the first phase set to open in the Fall of 2018.
