Keyano College is renovating one of its on-campus residences.
Clearwater Hall, which was built over 30 years ago and houses roughly 118 students, is getting roughly $3 million in upgrades.
This includes total demolition of the kitchens and bathrooms. Flooring and windows are being replaced and each dorm room will also get WiFi, LED lighting, and some built in furniture.
The college says the renovations will extend the life of the building for 25 years.
“Despite tight financial restraints, we had to do this. Keyano’s three overarching goals are to enhance the student experience, achieve academic excellence and enhance institutional sustainability. This project, as well as other facility improvements we are embarking on, speaks loudly to the experience students have and our institutional sustainability,” Carol Pollard, the Vice President, Finance & Administration/CFO said in a release.
The upgrades started on Monday and are expected to wrap up on August 15th.
