If you just finished up “The Office (UK/US)” then you are going to love “Borderline”.
“Borderline” is in mockumentary format much like “The Office”, “Parks and Recreations”, or “Modern Family”. It follows the misadventures of UK Border Security guards and the difficulties of their day to day lives.
The characters given the most screentime are Tariq (David Avery), Proctor (Jackie Clune), Clive, (David Elms), Andy (Liz Kingman), and Grant (Jamie Michie). The delivery of the humour is very situational. Instead of jokes and gags, we see Grant trying to hit on a Ukranian woman he brought in for questioning or Clive and Tariq trying to stop two incredibly drunk girls from making a scene. One of the things I like most about the show is that it is “Retroscripted”. This means that instead of acting out the scenes based off of a prewritten script the characters are given a situation and are told to improvise the scene. This leads to humour that you wouldn’t see otherwise and a more genuine delivery from the characters.
If you’re looking for some light-hearted fun I can’t recommend Borderline enough. I give it an 8.5/10.
