An RCMP dive team from British Columbia is joining in the search for four missing hunters from Fort Chipewyan.
Corporal Ronald Bumbry tells Mix News the scuba divers are expected to arrive Thursday and assist with efforts to find the men who’ve been missing since Sunday.
On Wednesday, Parks Canada and RCMP moved to a search and recovery operation to the Rocher River and its surrounding banks.
“Basically now, we’re going to the banks and below,” says Bumbry.
Three helicopters, a boat equipped with sonar, Fort McMurray search and rescue and Wood Buffalo RCMP Police Dog Services are all assisting in the massive search.
So far, only the group’s boat has been found.
The hunters first left Fort Chipewyan on Sunday on the Rocher River and were heading to an area known as Devil’s Gate.
Earlier this week, Chief of the Mikisew Cree First Nation Steve Courtoreille said everybody is on pins and needles hoping and praying that these men come up somewhere and are okay.
“Basically, the whole community is wondering and worried about the young men.”
