The municipality has released detailed plans for community gatherings throughout the region to mark one year since the evacuation.
The dawn-to-dusk event on May 3 in Fort McMurray will run from 5 a.m. – 9 p.m. at Snye Point Park.
The day kicks off with yoga followed by meditation, a pipe ceremony and art activities. There will also be a community breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Since parking will be limited, the RMWB is asking residents to use transit where possible. Complimentary shuttle buses will be offered between the Main Street terminal at the Jubilee Building and Snye Point Park. The buses will also service the overflow parking lot at Borealis Park.
In Fort McKay, a BBQ and other activities will take place from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Firehall Grounds.
Fort Chipewyan, Janvier and Conklin will all be holding events at a later date.
