Residents are being warned about a possible fraud case involving contracts for a new water filtration system.
The RMWB has received numerous reports from residents stating they’ve been approached by a private company, endorsed by the Municipality, trying to get them to upgrade their system.
In a release, the municipality notes they haven’t sent any technician or approached any resident looking for a new contractual agreement.
They add the community’s water meets all health and safety regulations and doesn’t need any type of upgrade.
Wood Buffalo RCMP are currently investigating the reports.
Anyone who may have been contacted, approached or have set up an appointment are being asked to call police or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
