Habitat for Humanity Wood Buffalo is expecting to help rebuild between eight and ten homes in 2017.
That’s according to Crystal Lewis-Wilton, Executive Director of HFHWB.
She notes they hope to have two rebuilds started by the end of May, both in Beacon Hill.
“For one of them, it’s a two-parent family and they’ve got two young kids and for the other property it’s two adults, their children are grown up but they have grandchildren.”
For these rebuilds, they will be working with the Edmonton Branch. They also helped during last year’s project in Waterways by building walls and floors for the local group who put the home together “like a jigsaw”.
Lewis-Wilton says they’re also planning on doing two of their traditional builds this year.
“We’ve just purchased a duplex lot up in Stone Creek which we will be planning for our regular build.”
The project is also slated to start in late-May with construction overlapping with the two rebuild projects.
To officially kick start their biggest year ever, they will be hosting a free BBQ in Beacon Hill at the Frank Lacroix Arena on April 22 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Anyone interested in volunteering their time is welcome to come join and sign up.
