Wood Buffalo RCMP have charged a 27-year-old Calgary man in connection with a 2013 Fort McMurray murder.
Back in March 2013, officers were dispatched to a hotel after staff found a dead body in one of their rooms.
An autopsy was performed at the time, but police declined to on comment what the cause of death was.
Robert Kenneth Laing was arrested and charged on Friday with one count of second-degree murder after an investigation that lasted nearly four years.
RCMP say it was the persistence of the Wood Buffalo Detachment that led to the arrest, in partnership with Calgary Police and Tactical Services.
Laing appeared briefly in a Wood Buffalo Provincial Court via closed circuit television on Monday morning. His case has been put over until next month.
