The Layla Isaac foundation is a new non-profit organization partnering with the Red Cross to bring free events for kids to the region.
The LIF plans to organize inclusive play activities for children to engage with peers outside of school hours in a safe space.
This year the foundation will bring their gift of play event to Father Merc for kids to run, jump and make some new friends while school is out.
Managing Director, Beverly Makia, says she hopes the gift of play will help families who lost their homes in the spring make new memories and develop a new sense of home and community over the weekend.
The free event will run from December 20th to the 22nd and then again on the 28th to the 30th.
Makia says the foundation plans to have more play days in the new year, and they hope to bring these events to rural hamlets like Conklin and Fort Mackay.
