Even with the snowfall, the WMZs were relaxed for Monday. However, motorists should prepare for on-street parking restrictions starting on Tuesday, December 6th.
This program only applies to residential streets and not priority routes. A number of primary, secondary and tertiary routes in Fort McMurray will have alternative parking in place during the time the zone is active.
Residents are being asked to check signage to make sure parking is permitted as other restrictions could apply.
Residents can identify their Zone by checking the signage along their residential street, by reviewing the mapping provided on the municipal website, or by using the Find Your Zone tool at rmwb.ca/snowplow.
If you’re parked in a restricted area, the RMWB says the fine for the Notice of Violation is $120 as per their Roads and Transportation Bylaw, and in addition, there will be significant fees to store and remove the vehicle from the impound lot.
The Municipality’s priority is to inform and educate residents about the program and to facilitate on-street parking restrictions so that residents can avoid being ticketed or towed.
