Residents will have many opportunities to meet a contractor for their own rebuild.
The Home Expo kicked off today at MacDonald Island Park with over 50 contactors, half being local, setting up booths for a chance to meet residents.
New and creative ways to rebuild are being introduced to Fort McMurray, inspired by the events of the spring, to ensure residents can feel safe
One such idea is the through of using sea cans to build homes. One company is also introduing a new FireSmart safety feature for any rebuild.
“One of the most exciting options that’s coming is a remote activated sprinkler system. So all of this happens from your smartphone and god forbid worst case scenario you can be driving down the highway and activate your sprinkler system from your phone that will do the best to protect the exterior of your home until help arrives,” said Laeonie Gano with Novhaus.
They are just one of many contractors with different options and ideas. Green homes are available for families trying to give a helping hand to the community with all having the same goal of helping to build back better.
Currently there are over 90 rebuilds started across Fort McMurray.
The expo coincides with the Christmas Show and runs all weekend.
