The Fort McMurray SPCA is dealing with a rash of overnight thefts.
Executive Director Tara Clarke tells Mix News since the beginning of November, the same vehicles have been showing up during the night and stealing bottles and pet food.
She says the individuals come at night with flashlights, bolt cutters and a team to load the vehicles as quickly as possible.
“From what the footage revealed these individuals are very organized and prepared, so there’s a lot of intent in what they are doing.”
Clarke says these thefts have resulted in a shortfall, as the SPCA needs the bottles for operational income.
She adds its disappointing someone would steal from a non-profit.
“The level of organization and whatnot and intent in this matter is very disappointing. If there are individuals in the community that need our help in the way of pet food, you just have to come in and ask use and we will certainly provide that.”
Clarke notes police have been notified, but in the meantime, they will work on improving their security system.
