Site and topographical surveys are being conducted in the coming weeks.
Land surveyors will be in Abasand, Beacon Hill and Waterways to create grading maps of each neighbourhood and properties to identify any potential drainage issues for rebuilding.
“These areas are some of the oldest in Fort McMurray and as a result we need to update our maps of these communities,” said Erin O’Neill, Operations Manager, Wood Buffalo Recovery Task Force. “Completing this work now will allow Planning & Development to provide the best guidance for rebuilding residents, creating positive drainage effects across the community.”
IBI Group Inc. was contracted by the RMWB and will identify and confirm existing grade elevations, road, curb and gutter elevations and locations. This includes the location of right-of-ways, easements and buried utilities on properties within each neighbourhood.
The new master grading plan is expected to be in place by December 15, 2016. For project updates, you can go to rmwb.ca/ABW. Questions about the project can be answered through the PULSE Line by calling 780-743-7000.
