The RMWB is one of the recipients of Canada’s 150th Tulip Garden.
The region is one of 150 chosen to receive tulip bulbs from the Canadian Garden Council after an application was made by the Wood Buffalo Communities in Bloom Committee.
They’re also receiving a donation from Vanhof and Blokker for the tulip garden to be planted at Snye Park to recognize Canada’s 150th birthday on July 1st, 2017.
“The Wood Buffalo Communities in Bloom Committee is proud that our region was among the selected communities to host a Garden to commemorate Canada’s 150th,” said Elaine Martens, chair of the Wood Buffalo Communities in Bloom Committee. “We look forward to showcasing this wonderful gift of 2,000 red and white tulips, which will bloom in spring 2017.”
Residents can participate in the planting ceremony of 2,000 tulip bulbs on Thursday, October 13 at Snye Park from 2 – 3 p.m.
The garden along with the other 149 gardens across Canada will be symbolically linked to a flagship 150th Garden Promenade in Niagara Falls, Ontario consisting of 25,000 tulips.
These gardens will also be featured on Canada’s garden Route.
