Residents have a chance to nominate a hero from the efforts done to save the municipality from the wildfire.
Anyone who was involved in the emergency response, aftermath and recovery such as friends, family members, neighbours, first responders, public service members, non-profit representatives and organizations can be nominated.
“With Thanksgiving approaching, it’s important we take the opportunity to extend our gratitude to the thousands of individuals, organizations and businesses who reached out to assist residents of the Wood Buffalo region during the wildfire,” said Premier Rachel Notley in a release sent out earlier today.
Residents are being encouraged to include a description of why the nominee should be called a hero, their story, pictures along with contact information on their hero.
All nominations will be due by November 28 with a certificate of thanks being signed by Premier Notley then mailed to the nominee.
“Their courage and compassion demonstrates the spirit of Alberta,” said Notley.
The nomination form is available online at alberta.ca/wildfire where the stories of the resiliency will be featured.
